Shannan’s Story
Shannan Fratto is an Early Childhood, Elementary, and English Language Development Educator with 15 years of experience in Montgomery County Public Schools. The cornerstone of her pedagogy is respect and dignity for the whole child. Shannan has experience supporting displaced children and their families, recent immigrants, refugees, and others experiencing interrupted education. It is the stories of these families that inspired Shannan to join The Dwelling Place in their mission to support families experiencing homelessness.
Shannan has provided coaching and professional development sessions to more than 200 parents and educators on topics including Building Trust and Positive Relationships, Identity Representation in Literature, and Welcoming English Language Learners in the General Ed Classroom. Shannan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from The University of Maryland and a Master’s of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University.
